Brooktherm Refrigeration Ltd have had a long and historical connection to the marine industry having considerable experience in providing the design and installation of air conditioning, domestic refrigeration plants and large-scale chill and freeze refrigeration applications.

We have the capability of providing highly qualified refrigeration staff to attend any port worldwide to carry out service, upgrades (including refrigerant conversions) and emergency repairs to numerous types of vessels which include the following:

•    Ferries
•    Cruise Liners
•    General Cargo Ships
•    Reefer Vessels
•    Container Vessels
•    Oil & Gas Tankers
•    Offshore Oil & Gas Rigs
•    Royal Fleet Auxiliary Vessels
•    Cable Laying Vessels

Our highly skilled engineering staff have carried out the conversion of a considerable number of refrigeration plants from high GWP refrigerants to more sustainable environmentally friendly refrigerants.

These conversions are carried out either in port / shipyard docking areas or whilst the vessel is in service. Each refrigerant specified is designed to offer maximum efficiency subject to the type and application of the refrigeration / air conditioning plant.

On board surveys are offered as part of our broad service provision prior to the submission of a detailed work programme which provides all aspects of the refrigerant replacement requirements to provide longevity of the refrigeration / air conditioning systems and having the benefit of long-term availability of the chosen refrigerants around the world.

Our engineering staff are fully trained and qualified refrigeration engineers having experience on all types of refrigerants i.e., HFC’s and Ammonia, and associated refrigeration systems from direct expansion, pumped liquid, thermosyphon and primary refrigerant secondary glycol circulation.

We undertake all aspects of the refrigeration system inspection repairs which includes for both electrical and mechanical aspect and when required the overhaul of the refrigeration compressor in-situ. Full technical support is provided our highly qualified technical refrigeration personnel based at our Birkenhead office.

To further facilitate our clients’ needs we can provide a plant questionnaire. This initial information regarding the vessel refrigeration / air conditioning plant allows for an accurate and speedy response to individual enquiries relating to system repairs, refrigerant gas conversions, compressor overhauls / replacements, along with general service maintenance requirements.
